Treasure Baskets are a great way for babies to discover and learn things for themselves.  They don't have to be complicated to be able to provide exploration for babies.  The idea for these baskets is for babies to discover everything on their own, so are ideal for babies who can sit up on their own and are ready to explore!

  1. Keep them simple.  Using just a few objects in your basket can help baby learn.
  2. Make sure they're safe.  Don't put anything sharp, small or loose in your basket.
  3. Keep to natural materials.  Start by using different fabrics, wood and metal.
  4. Forget the batteries.  Don't use anything with that requires a battery - the baskets are providing an experience for baby rather than entertainment.
  5. Keep them practical.  Use real life tools and things you can find in your environment, no toys are necessary.
