How we can help Helping Parents and Families Support for dads Support for dads Fathers and male carers play a crucial role in a child’s development and future but often services are focused on mothers and female carers. We can help fathers and male carers to feel supported and understand their important role in their family. Caring Dads – This programme is all about recognising the important role you play, as a father or male carer, in your children’s lives. We will help you to understand how your behaviour at home can have a long term effect on the health and wellbeing of your children and family. We help you to understand how domestic abuse and relationship issues can impact on your children and how this can be seen and unseen in the home. Through the weekly sessions you will support other fathers and male carers in a similar situation and work together. The ultimate aim of this programme is to help you improve your relationship with your children and create a positive family life. Here is one Dad’s experience of the Caring Dads programme: Without this programme I wouldn’t have changed anything in my life. This programme has had a massive impact on the way I treat my child(ren) and wife. Having a chance to talk safely and openly.
