Salary: £50,278 – £56,106. Children North East scale points 53 – 57.

Hours: 37 hours a week

The Operations Director will lead on greater impact of Children North East for children and young people through service provision, campaigning and online advice for young people and parents. They will have deep and wide understanding of children, young people and parents and proven commitment to listening to and acting on their insights.

The post holder will have day to day responsibility for all operational activity and campaigning and be the safeguarding lead for the charity. We need an experienced leader who is professionally qualified in at least one of the following—social work, youth work, community health services, teaching, counselling, or psychotherapy and who also has experience of managing one or more of the following—early years, family work, emotional health and wellbeing, youth work, group work, one to one support, training programmes for young people or parents.

This new post will work closely with the Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive to lead the charity. You must therefore be very familiar with the opportunities facing charities and be ready to step up to challenges of strategic leadership particularly continuous improvement to meet the changing needs of children, young people, parents and schools.

You will be accountable to the Chief Executive and have significant contact with trustees. You will line manage four experienced managers and a new post of Campaigner. You must be a team player and maintain effective collaborative relationships with managers for finance, HR, income generation, communications and marketing. You will also be expected to develop productive relationships with delivery partners, academics, funders, donors, commissioners and quality assurance bodies.
