Tell us a bit about yourself

I have been in local government for 38 years . I am a qualified social worker, practice teacher and have aa Masters degree in systemic practice. I received an OBE for services to child protection in North Yorkshire in 2018 and received my award from Prince William

I am Director of Children Education and Skills at Newcastle City Council. It’s a very busy job but I love the challenge and am lucky to work with amazing colleagues and partners.

How do you feel about the North East?

I love the North East – we moved here when I was 6 yrs old. I’m not telling you how many years ago that was!

Why have you chosen to be a Trustee of Children North East?

I am a trustee for Children North East because I want to be part of something special for babies, children , young people and families.

What do you do in your spare time?

Little known about me - I have a black belt in TaeKwon Do.  My favourite place is an island on Derwentwater - I kayak there and then read and swim on sunny days.
