Tell us a bit about yourself

With qualifications in social work, teaching and business, I have over 25 years of passion and commitment to safeguarding and improving the lives of children and vulnerable adults.  My experience includes delivering services to those requiring complex health and social care in both the private and public sector.

How do you feel about the North East?

The North East is very special. It is filled with friendly and unassuming people who go out of their way to help others. It has a great mix of vibrant cities with great food, music and culture. It boasts the most beautiful coastlines, hills and walkways, all packed full of history.  I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Why have you chosen to be a Trustee of Children North East?

I am aligned to the values and purpose of Children North East. I see the staff, volunteers and Trustees work relentlessly to improve the lives of, and make a difference to, our children and young people living in the area. Children North East is truly committed to their mission and I am proud to be part of such a valued and respected charity.

What do you do to relax and for fun?

I'm a bit of a 'rock chick', although the word 'chick' is probably pushing it. I like to watch live music, comedy, dance and theatre. I like to challenge the mind exploring the world of quantum physics, listening to Ted Talks and the occasional lighthearted conspiracy theory. I make ice cream, work out at the gym and practise yoga.
