One of our fantastic volunteers, Kate, has provided this easy way to add some extra fun to teaching words during lockdown and beyond.

What you'll need:

  • Two empty toilet rolls
  • Scissors
  • Pen

Steps:

  1. Gently squash one of the toilet rolls so it fits inside the other
  2. Cut the unsquashed toilet roll into 3 pieces creating 'bands' or circles.  Trim a little off each one.
  3. Write three different letters on each band - on the first one write C T R, on the second one write AOU and on the third one write TPG.
  4. Once you've written the letters on, slide each ring gently onto the squashed tube.
  5. Draw a small triangle on each end of the squashed tube.
  6. Spin the bands to see how many words you can make.
