At Children North East we're doing everything we can to ensure our vital services are still fully accessible to those who need them - and your support is making this happen.

Following the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19) our vital work is needed now more than ever in the region as the virus amplifies the issues we see on a daily basis, making a huge and detrimental impact on those in need in our region.

This is why we continue to need your help to make sure these vital services can carry on.

Our New Services

Our dedicated staff have worked hard to adapt our projects and have introduced new, essential services targeted at those most in need.

Resources for children and young people

Our new Scrappy Dooz project is distributing resources to children and young people who are most in need, to enable them to continue their school work and to be able to enjoy fun activities at home with their families. We have supported 350 families and 696 children with a variety of resource packs, with more needed every week.

We're seeking donations of items from individuals, groups and business who may be able to donate new, good quality items including pens, pencils, paper, card, toys, books and craft, cooking and gardening items. Please get in touch if you have items you would like to donate, or we have set up an Amazon wishlist for those who would prefer to buy items to be delivered to us for the packs.

Food parcels

Our Families and Parenting team and our Young People's Service are giving out food parcels.  So far, we have given out over 200 food parcels to the families we work with who are most in need, with more parcels going out every week.

Tech support

A need has been identified to provide technology in the midst of the crisis, including children who need access to a tablet device to complete school work, young people and youth mentors who can't access our mentoring programe without a suitable device, and expectant parents and new parents who otherwise can't access our face-to-face therapy online or join in with the baby sessions run by the charity. We have been working with supporters and funders to arrange tablets, and any support towards this would be a huge help.

Our Urgent Appeal

As the region’s oldest independent children’s charity, we have been here to support the most disadvantaged in our society, including during times of crisis since 1891. However, as a charity reliant on fundraising income and donations, the Covid-19 crisis means we are facing significant financial uncertainty.  It is vital that children, babies, young people and families can access our support now and in the months to come. Together we can ensure this vital work continues.
