Children North East campaigns to challenge and change unfairness for children and young people.

Our Poverty Proofing the School Day project works in schools to identify and overcome the barriers to learning that children and young people from families with less financial resources face.

In the summer of 2017 we coordinated the largest research programme to date into holiday schemes and holiday hunger. This project was in conjunction with Northumbria University and the North East Child Poverty Trust. The results will be published at the end of May 2018.

Children North East is a member of Tyne and Wear Citizens UK. Together we are working to improve mental health services for children and young people and stop the scandal of unspent Free School Meal money going missing.

Children North East is a Living Wage Foundation employer and was named Regional Living Wage Champion in 2016 for our work encouraging other employers to pay the Living Wage Foundation Living Wage.
