We are very happy to have been awarded an Investing in Children Membership Award™ by Newcastle City Council for the range of services we deliver throughout Newcastle.

Jeremy Cripps, Chief Executive, said:

We are delighted to have been awarded Investing in Children status for our work within Newcastle. Every part of our work involves children and young people and we are proud that they are able to influence the delivery of our services every step of the way. This award acknowledges the hard work of our projects in promoting equality and opportunity throughout.

An evaluation of Children North East was carried out by Newcastle City Council against a variety of criteria and obtained contributions from children and young people who attended services run by the charity. The Investing in Children Membership Award™ celebrates the voices of children and young people being heard in matters that are important to them. The children and young people themselves decide whether a service should receive membership.

Cllr Nora Casey, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People at Newcastle City Council, said:

I was very pleased to be able to support children, young people and their families in their recommendation to award Children North East with their first Investing in Children Membership Award™, particularly for their work in Newcastle.

The scope of participation within the charity is fantastic – the children and young people have a voice which results in changes across the organisation as a whole. Children and their families are at the heart of the decision-making and this was reflected in the comments children and young people made.
