Golfers from across the north east went head-to-head on Wednesday to show their support for children and young people in the region.

The Children North East Annual Golf Day took place on Wednesday 9th May at Close House, one of the North East’s most challenging courses, which hosted the British Masters in September 2017.

The friendly tournament attracted golfers of all standards playing in teams of four.  A team from Pipeline Engineering (pictured) beat eight other corporate teams to win the day’s top prize of the Children North East Tournament Trophy, Prosecco and a complimentary round of golf at Close House.

Carol Taylor, Senior Fundraiser at Children North East, said, “Thank you to all the players who took part and made this day such a huge success.  I’m pleased to announce the income from the day was over £4,000 – an absolutely fantastic amount.”

“A huge thank you also to Wylam Garage for sponsoring our Hole in One Competition on Hole 10.  It wasn’t a lucky day for any of our golfers, but they certainly had a lot of fun trying!”
