With the Easter school holidays upon us, it might feel good to buy an extra chocolate egg at the supermarket to give to a child living in poverty, but we’ve got a different idea this year.

Our supporters and donors have been extremely generous with giving chocolate eggs in previous years, however the Easter holidays can often be a really difficult time for families living in poverty – no free school meals and two weeks of time to fill with activities.

So how about providing an alternative kind of treat for the children and young people that use our services this year?

Easter crafting

The gift of an experience

Gift cards can provide an experience that their families or carers might not ordinarily be able to afford. It would provide a genuine treat for a child or young person to look forward to during the holidays, and can be a time they can spend with their friends without feeling excluded because they haven’t seen that film that everyone’s talking about.

It’s not just the cinema either, you could get vouchers for bowling, ice skating or family-friendly restaurants.

What about Easter crafting – a voucher for somewhere like hobbycraft would provide a family with a brilliant activity that they can all take part in together.

Just think about what kind of thing you’d like to have got up to in the Easter holidays when you were a kid.
