The North East’s children and young people need your help in this time of crisis

Coronavirus is changing all of our lives but it is the most deprived communities in our region that will suffer the most.

We have more families trapped in poverty in the North East than most other parts of England. People are losing their livelihoods, leaving parents unable to feed their children or afford even the most basic necessities.

This is why today we are launching an urgent appeal in response to this crisis. Any donation you can give will make a huge difference to the lives of children and young people in the North East.

As the region’s oldest independent children’s charity, we have been here to support the most disadvantaged in our society, including during times of crisis since 1891. However, as a charity reliant on fundraising income and donations, the Covid-19 crisis means we are facing significant financial uncertainty.

It is vital that children, babies, young people and families can access our support now and in the months to come and to do this we need your help.

Next year, Children North East will be 130 years old and the demand for our support from our region’s communities is greater than ever. Our dedicated staff are working hard to adapt our projects and introduce new, essential services targeted at those most in need. Together we can ensure this vital work continues.

Your donation will help us supply food parcels to families; provide resources to children unable to attend school and deliver phone or online counselling to young people struggling with isolation. The money you give will also help us introduce much-needed support systems for anxious expectant parents through our unique Newcastle Parent Infant Partnership.

You can also donate £5 using your phone, text HOPE to 70490 - texts cost £5 plus one standard rate message.

Despite the challenges we are facing, we are committed to providing our vital services and support, and we thank you for your role in making this possible.
