Grateful Comments Received

The following comments were received from Family Support Workers, Families, Parents and Children who benefited from the generosity of our Giving Tree supporters.

Toy & Food Gifts:

One of the mums I work with told me that her little girl loves her Disney doll she got from us and that she plays with it all the time. She has called it princess ******* (after her Family Support Worker!)

Another mum was quite tearful with relief as they didn’t have anything for Christmas. She gave me a big hug when I took lots of presents and food parcels round.

In relation to a family struggling financially to provide presents for their four children we supplied some for the parents to give. When I visited after Christmas the children told me their “dreams had come true”. The little girl had two Barbie dolls that she had “always wanted.” One of the boys was very keen to show me his Dragon’s Fort he had received and was “playing with it every day.” The parents said the presents and food hamper had “made this Christmas a really good one.”

Comments made by a parent - “Thank you so much, it’s really appreciated. It’s a great relief to know that my kids will get something nice for Christmas, I had been really worried about what to do.”

Comments made by a parent – “How did you know, I saw this in Asda and ***** had asked for it for Christmas, I said you’ll have to wait and see, didn’t think we could afford it, now she’ll think I’m marvellous!”

“Extremely grateful. Were not in a position to buy presents for Christmas because of the huge fuel debt we’ve got and the threat of bailiffs calling to the house".

Two teenage girls: “Thank you for the lush gifts and vouchers. I bought some make up at Boots”

‘’Thank you so much - we can’t wait to see his face on Christmas morning when he opens his presents’’

“Financially finding it difficult to buy gifts and food for Christmas. The food hamper, selection boxes are great”

Teenage boy received a Monopoly game – as this was all he had asked for. He has, since a young age always wanted this game.

Pantomime outings:

“It was really good. I haven’t been to one since I was 5” (11 year old in temporary accommodation over Christmas)

“Muddles was really funny when his pants fell down”

“There was a big massive spider that started splashing people”

“It was spectacular”

“There was a flying car that was red”

“The theatre was really big with shiny red curtains”

“We walked there and back, it was a fab time”

“I didn’t expect to get sweets as well. I’ve never been before it was really good. Thank you so much for letting us come”

Santa’ Farm – A Sunday outing for families:

“I like the go carts I could go fast”

“The Llama kept staring at me. I’ve never seen one before!”

“I liked the baby cow because it didn’t bite you and was soft”

“It is great just to get out with the kids. I wouldn’t be able to do anything like this for them. They have had a brilliant time” (Single Dad of 2 girls)

“The grotto was like magic, there were lights and animals and santa’s elves waved to me”

Ice Skating Outings:

“I’ve never done that before but it was easy, I was really good”

“It’s years since I had a pair of skates on, we’ve had a brilliant time” (parent who came along with her children)

“I was a bit frightened before I went on but it was really good. I want to go again”

“That was the best day ever!”

“We haven’t got anything like this near our house, it was brilliant”
