2012 Sandcastle Challenge Details Announced!

Details of the 2012 Sandcastle Challenge have now been agreed!

This year's Sandcastle Challenge will take place on Friday 29th June at Sandhaven Beach, South Shields. The theme for this year's Challenge is 'The Olympics'.

Young People’s Community Cafe – generations together

The Young People's Community Café, funded by the Jubilee People's Millions and voted for by our local people is now increasing its pace.

The cafe offers an opportunity for young people to learn how to cook, meet older members of the community and then work together.

Cheque presentation at St James Place Foundation dinner at the Gateshead Hilton Hotel

On Saturday 14th January 2012 the St James Place Foundation Dinner was held at the Gateshead Hilton Hotel.

A cheque for the amount of £43,560 was presented to Children North East's Chief Executive Jeremy Cripps.

This money will go towards the West End Youth Enquiry Service (WEYES) building with particular focus on the kitchen area.

Novamedia/Postcode Lotteries is the third largest donor in the world

On 23 December 2011 Novamedia/Postcode Lotteries’, the founder of the People’s Postcode Lottery, was announced as the world’s third-largest private charity donor.

Novamedia/Postcode Lotteries’ is in third place, having donated a total of £451 million for good causes across the world. Only the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in America and the Wellcome Trust in the UK (which donated £1.67 billion and £602 million respectively) are ahead as the largest private donors in the world.

DFDS Seaways treat Young Volunteers to a trip to Amsterdam

On Saturday 17th December four Youth Link Volunteers headed off on the Panto Mini Cruise to Amsterdam with all expenses paid courtesy of DFDS.

DFDS has been a supporter of Children North East for five years, and provides a range of fantastic mini cruise breaks and ferry crossings to Europe.

Live Theatre music event huge success in aid of Children North East

Recently there was a fantastic evening of live entertainment in support of Children North East - Under The Radar presents ‘ Rhythm & Booze’ at the Live Theatre, Broad Chare Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 3DQ took place on 26th November 2011

Roger Olley MBE collects his Award

Roger Olley MBE together with his proud family visited Buckingham Palace earlier this month to receive his award from the Queen.

Roger was awarded the MBE in the Queen's birthday honours for ‘services to families’.

Star Radio Toy Appeal in support of Children North East

Star Radio asked their listeners for help this Christmas for their Toy Appeal in support of Children North East.
They asked people to buy just one extra present for a child, and the response was outstanding, with absolutely loads of presents donated.
