Big Fun Runs is a series of 5k fun runs being staged across the UK throughout the summer and autumn and Children North East are thrilled to be a part of this year’s event being held in Exhibition Park, Newcastle upon Tyne on Saturday 6th October

So why not come & join us!

You will find a relaxed ‘fun’ atmosphere suitable for all the family where you can accomplish your personal goals and where funds raised will really help make a difference to a local child. The Big Fun Run is the ideal event for beginners and experienced runners alike.

The date for the 2012 EMF has been announced as the 26th and 27th May 2012. 

The events making up the 2012 EMF will be;

  • Marathon

  • Hairy Haggis Team Relay 
  • EMF 10k 
  • EMF 5k 
  • 1.5k Junior Races (6yrs to 10yrs) 
  • 3k Junior Race (10yrs to 14yrs) 
  • Mascot race 
  • 5k Wheelchair race 
  • 5k Handbike Race

Our 2012 Golf Day was held at Close House Country Club and despite the a lot of heavy rain, a fantastic day was enjoyed by everyone who attended. A very warm welcome was given to us once again by the excellent team at Close House.

The competition was a four-ball Stableford with the best two counting. Prizes were awarded to the top three teams and there were prizes for the nearest the pin and longest drive.

Schools
Once again we are inviting all Infant and Junior schools in the region to join us for a day of fun down on the beach at Sandhaven, South Shields and to be part of the biggest sandcastle construction event in the North East. Last year around 2000 local school children and their teachers enjoyed a fantastic day constructing designs in the sand and enjoying good old fashioned fun at the seaside.

Last year’s Sandcastle Ball was an outstanding success and was attended by leading businesses and individuals who all helped support the North East’s oldest independent children’s charity celebrate 120 years. An amazing £21000 was raised on the night and this stays in our region to help our work supporting thousands of vulnerable children and young people who turn to us each year for help. The Great North Run

The 2012 Great North Run takes place on Sunday 16th September.

The ballot for online entry at www.greatrun.org closed on 6th February and we would like to encourage everyone who was successful to consider supporting Children North East.

Children North East has a limited number of places still available and would be pleased to offer these to anyone who would like to support our great cause. A deposit of £48 with a pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship of £300 is required to secure a place on our team.
